Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has admitted that Inter Milan were simply too good for Udinese after the Italian side suffered a 5-3 defeat at San Siro on Sunday.
Okoye, who started in goal for Udinese, said Inter’s relentless attacking approach made the encounter particularly difficult, despite the visitors creating chances and scoring three goals.
“It’s always tough playing Inter at San Siro. They play a very attack-minded game. They just never let up, even after scoring three or four goals. We had our chances too, but they’re just too good,” Okoye said.
Udinese managed to take the lead and remained dangerous going forward, but Inter responded strongly and capitalised on mistakes to claim victory in a high-scoring Serie A encounter.
Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic also acknowledged Inter’s superiority, saying his team struggled to withstand the pressure from the hosts and conceded goals from avoidable situations.
“We struggled to cope with their pressure. We were missing several players, and perhaps things would’ve gone differently had they been available, especially after we took the lead,” Runjaic said.
The coach, however, pointed to Udinese’s three goals as a positive from the game and urged his players to reflect on their defensive mistakes before their next fixture against Cagliari.
