Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has linked up with the squad in Uyo ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opener against Madagascar on Friday.
The Udinese goalkeeper’s arrival was confirmed by the Super Eagles on their official X account, where the team shared his picture with the message, “Welcome, Maduka.”
Okoye became the final member of Nigeria’s 24-man squad to arrive in camp after missing the team’s first two training sessions in Uyo.
His late arrival had generated criticism after he was spotted at Milan Fashion Week, where he represented Udinese and modelled the Italian club’s third kit.
He was also seen alongside American rapper Cardi B during the event.
Okoye attended the Milan event while absent from the Super Eagles’ preparations in Uyo.
However, head coach Éric Chelle had explained that Udinese asked the goalkeeper to remain in Italy for some club activities before linking up with the national team.
With Okoye now in camp, Chelle has all three goalkeeping options available for the Madagascar encounter, with Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo also in the squad.
Nigeria will take on Madagascar at 5pm on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in their opening Group L fixture of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
