Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has been crowned Udinese’s Player of the Season after a remarkable campaign in Italy’s top flight with Udinese.
The Nigerian shot-stopper was rewarded for a string of consistent, high-level performances that helped him establish himself as a key figure for the Zebras across the course of the season.
His campaign did not begin smoothly, as he missed the first two months of action while serving a suspension linked to an alleged match-fixing investigation.
However, he returned to action strongly and quickly regained his status as Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Okoye went on to produce several eye-catching displays, including standout performances against Serie A heavyweights Juventus and AC Milan, where he played a crucial role in keeping his side competitive.
Over the course of the league season, the 26-year-old registered 10 clean sheets in 29 appearances.
His strong form has also earned him a nomination for the Serie A Player of the Month award for May.
