PEC Zwolle secured a 2-1 victory over NAC Breda in an entertaining Eredivisie encounter, capitalising on a clinical first-half display to edge past their visitors.
The hosts made their breakthrough in the 22nd minute when Thijs Oosting rose highest to head home from a well-delivered cross by Odysseus Velanas.
Zwolle doubled their advantage just two minutes later, with Velanas turning from provider to scorer as he found the net in the 24th minute to give his side firm control of the contest.
Despite going two goals down, NAC Breda responded with intent and looked the more dominant side in terms of possession and attacking output.
They controlled 56.8% of the ball and registered a total of 20 attempts on goal, but struggled with accuracy, managing only six shots on target.
Their persistence eventually paid off in the second half when Mohamed Nassoh pulled one back in the 67th minute, heading home to reduce the deficit and set up a tense finale.
However, Zwolle held their defensive shape to preserve their narrow lead and secure all three points.
The result sees PEC Zwolle climb from 13th to 12th in the standings ahead of their next fixture away to Go Ahead Eagles. Meanwhile, NAC Breda will look to bounce back when they host Sparta Rotterdam in their upcoming league match.
