Eredivisie: Feyenoord thrash Utrecht 5-0, extend winning run

Feyenoord continued their impressive start to the Eredivisie season with a convincing 5-0 victory over struggling FC Utrecht on Sunday.

Anis Hadj Moussa opened the scoring after just seven minutes, bursting forward from the halfway line before finding the bottom corner.

Nacho Ferri doubled the advantage three minutes later, firing Mika Marmol’s cross past Vasilis Barkas.

Utrecht suffered another setback when top scorer Artem Stepanov was forced off with an injury after half an hour.

Feyenoord took full advantage, with Hadj Moussa scoring his second goal in the 33rd minute after another unchallenged run ended with a finish past Barkas.

Feyenoord were awarded a penalty shortly after the restart following a handball by Niklas Vesterlund.

Captain Luciano Valente stepped up and converted to make it 4-0.

Utrecht struggled to create clear opportunities, while Feyenoord remained in control.

Goalkeeper Tjark Ernst made important saves to deny the visitors, who were unable to find a way back into the contest.

Feyenoord added a fifth goal when Gjivai Zechiel set up Gaoussou Diarra, who marked his first goal for the club with a finish into the far corner.

The victory follows Feyenoord’s 7-0 demolition of PEC Zwolle last weekend and leaves them firmly in the title race.

Utrecht, meanwhile, remain 15th and have conceded 24 goals in seven league matches.
