SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, has said the company will rename its artificial intelligence unit, SpaceXAI, to SpaceXSI, following a push by United States President Donald Trump to replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence.”
Musk disclosed this on Sunday in response to a user on X who asked whether the company would consider changing the name of SpaceXAI.
“Yes, we will make that change,” Musk replied.
The proposed name change comes after Trump advocated the use of “super intelligence” instead of artificial intelligence in official US documents.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly last month, Trump said, “From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the world’s will be changed to use the much more accurate term ‘super’ as opposed to artificial. So it’s super intelligence.”
Musk, however, did not disclose when the name change would take effect or provide further details about the planned rebranding.
As of the time of the report, the X account of SpaceXAI had also not been renamed, while the unit had not immediately responded to a request for comment.
