Teen sensation Assan Ouedraogo capped off a dream week by scoring a stuning goal as RB Leipzig defeated Werder Bremen 2-0 on Sunday to reclaim second place in the Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who became the youngest player to score on his Germany debut during Monday’s 6-0 win over Slovakia, delivered again with a brilliant left-footed strike into the top corner in the 63rd minute – his third league goal of the campaign.
Despite Leipzig dominating the first half, Werder goalkeeper Mio Backhaus kept the visitors in the game with several key saves. He could do nothing, however, to stop Ouedraogo’s thunderous effort.
Xaver Schlager came off the bench to secure the win, turning sharply inside the box to fire home Leipzig’s second goal in the 80th minute.
The victory marked Leipzig’s fourth in their last five Bundesliga outings, a strong response after their defeat to Hoffenheim in the previous round.
Leipzig now sit on 25 points, trailing leaders Bayern Munich who moved to 31 after a 6-2 rout of Freiburg on Saturday. Bayer Leverkusen follow closely in third with 23 points.
