Bundesliga: Nkunku scores hat-trick as Leipzig humiliate Frankfurt 6-0

RB Leipzig produced a dominant display to thrash Eintracht Frankfurt 6-0 at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday, with Christopher Nkunku scoring a first-half hat-trick in the Bundesliga encounter.

Leipzig took the lead just one minute into the match when Ezechiel Banzuzi converted Neil El Aynaoui’s cross.

The hosts doubled their advantage four minutes later as Nkunku finished off an assist from Antonio Nusa.

Nkunku struck again in the 41st minute before completing his hat-trick three minutes later to give Leipzig a commanding 4-0 lead at half-time.

Nusa extended Leipzig’s advantage in the 54th minute, finishing a move created by Banzuzi.

Substitute Tidiam Gomis completed the rout in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from Benjamin Henrichs.

Despite enjoying 53 per cent possession and creating several opportunities, Frankfurt failed to find the net.

Leipzig, meanwhile, were more clinical in front of goal, converting their chances to secure an emphatic victory.

Goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt was also instrumental in the result, making nine saves to preserve Leipzig’s clean sheet.

His performance frustrated Frankfurt’s attackers and helped the hosts maintain their commanding advantage.
