Bullet fragments remain in my head from 2019 shooting — Angela Okorie

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has disclosed that bullet fragments from a 2019 assassination attempt are still lodged in her head, sharing her ongoing health struggles in an emotional Instagram post on Monday.

The 39-year-old actress posted videos of herself undergoing medical scans and examinations, captioning: “Last two weeks have been so hectic lovers. It’s been one hospital or the other running some series of tests on my head and body. Haven’t been feeling too well too, so my doctor advised I should be placed on bed rest. Seriously, good health is underestimated.”

Okorie revealed the shocking medical findings: “I went for my checkups, it was found that there are still fragments of bullet pellets on my head. As years go by, more still comes out. But at the end 🤷‍♀️ it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.”

The actress first disclosed the attack in December 2019 when she claimed armed assailants ambushed her vehicle. She had recounted: “The assassins kept on shooting for 30 minutes, No help from anywhere. No human came for our rescue. Only God came for our rescue,” alleging ten bullets struck her head during the incident.

In a 2021 update, Okorie maintained that bullet fragments continued emerging from her skull and reiterated her belief that industry rivals orchestrated the attack. She vowed never to forgive those allegedly involved or bloggers who spread what she called false narratives about the shooting.

Closing her latest post with a message of faith, Okorie wrote: “God is with me no doubt and may his name be praised. Amen. 🙏 #legitqueen.”

The actress’s revelation has sparked concern among fans and colleagues in Nollywood, with many expressing support through social media comments. Medical experts note that retained bullet fragments can sometimes remain in the body for years, potentially causing ongoing health complications.

Authorities have not publicly identified suspects in the 2019 attack, which Okorie has consistently described as an assassination attempt rather than a robbery incident. Her latest health update highlights the lasting physical and emotional scars from the violent encounter.
