Salah’s arrival to boost Onuachu’s goals, says ex-Turkish club Trabzonspor’s forward

Former Trabzonspor forward, Emre Güral, believes Mohamed Salah’s arrival at the Turkish club could help Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu increase his goalscoring tally.

Salah recently joined Trabzonspor after ending his spell with Liverpool, and Güral expects the Egyptian winger to attract significant attention from opposing defenders, creating additional opportunities for Onuachu in attack.

“Paul Onuachu will now receive the ball in a much different way and create different positions. Onuachu will create more space because the opposing team’s players will focus on Mohamed Salah. Onuachu is a very good striker with consistency in scoring goals,” Güral told Turkiyegazetesi.

According to the former Trabzonspor striker, Salah’s attacking ability will make it difficult for opponents to concentrate solely on Onuachu, potentially giving the Nigerian more room to operate inside the box.

“If he finds a little more space thanks to Salah, he can score many different goals. A player like Salah is a plus for any team. When Salah attacks, the opposing team will be forced to try to take precautions. If precautions are taken against Salah, players like Onuachu will find more space,” he said.

Onuachu returned permanently to Trabzonspor after an impressive loan spell and enjoyed a prolific 2025/26 season, ending the campaign as the Turkish Süper Lig’s joint-leading scorer with 22 goals.

With Salah now joining the squad, Onuachu will be hoping to develop an effective partnership with the former Liverpool star as Trabzonspor target success in the new season.
