Turkish League side Trabzonspor rule out Onuachu transfer exit

Trabzonspor president, Ertugrul Dogan, has dismissed speculation surrounding Paul Onuachu’s future, saying the Nigerian striker is not available for transfer this summer.

The 32-year-old Super Eagles forward has been linked with a possible move to Saudi Arabia despite his importance to the Turkish club.

The transfer rumours have also continued amid Trabzonspor’s reported interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison.

Onuachu enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season, scoring 26 goals across all competitions, including 22 in the Turkish Super Lig. His league tally saw him finish as joint top scorer alongside Istanbul Basaksehir forward Eldor Shomurodov.

His impressive performances sparked interest from other clubs, with speculation about his departure continuing even after the major European transfer window closed, leaving the Saudi Pro League and Turkish Super Lig windows still open.

Dogan, however, insisted that Trabzonspor have no intention of selling their leading scorer.

“Paul Onuachu’s departure is not on the agenda. The top scorer of this league, there is no such situation,” Dogan told Fotomac.

Despite the club’s firm stance, Onuachu has endured a difficult start to the new campaign.

He has failed to score or provide an assist in his first five appearances in all competitions.

That represents a sharp contrast to the way he finished last season, when he scored twice in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Cup final.

Meanwhile, Trabzonspor’s reported pursuit of Richarlison has added another dimension to speculation around their attack.

The Tottenham forward has reportedly fallen out of favour at the Premier League club, with the Turkish side said to have received encouragement from their high-profile summer signings, Mohamed Salah and Fabinho.

Onuachu will be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch when Trabzonspor welcome Genclerbirligi in a Turkish Super Lig fixture on Sunday.
