Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, will not feature for Trabzonspor in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter against Alanyaspor after suffering a muscle injury.
The 31-year-old sustained the injury during training on Friday, according to a statement released on the club’s official website.
“Following an initial assessment of our player Paul Onuachu, who experienced pain and stiffness in the upper anterior thigh muscle group during today’s training session, a muscle injury is suspected, and he has been removed from the Corendon Alanyaspor match squad. Treatment for our player has been started by our medical team,” the club announced.
The Nigeria international was instrumental in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 win over title challengers Galatasaray last weekend.
His compatriot, Chibuike Nwaiwu, netted the decisive goal in the encounter.
Despite the setback, Onuachu remains the top scorer in the Turkish top flight this season with 22 goals.
Experienced forward Anthony Nwakaeme is expected to spearhead Trabzonspor’s attack in his absence.
