Bundesliga: Kane scores brace as Bayern thrash Hamburg 5-0

Harry Kane bagged a brace as Bayern Munich stormed to a commanding 5-0 victory over Hamburg, extending their flawless start to the Bundesliga season.

Vincent Kompany’s men were in total control at the Allianz Arena, with Serge Gnabry, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Luis Diaz also getting on the scoresheet in a rampant display.

The tone was set inside three minutes when Gnabry surged into the box and squeezed his shot past Daniel Heuer Fernandes.

Pavlovic doubled the lead soon after, finishing smartly after a slick one-two with Kane.

The England striker added Bayern’s third midway through the half, calmly converting from the spot after a VAR check penalised Aboubaka Soumahoro for handball.

Diaz then made it four, his strike deflecting beyond the helpless Hamburg keeper, as the hosts raced into a four-goal cushion within 30 minutes.

Kane capped the rout early in the second half, shrugging off his marker before drilling home to complete a flowing team move.

Substitute Nicolas Jackson almost marked his debut with a goal but saw his header denied, while Michael Olise rattled the crossbar late on.

Bayern have now opened three straight Bundesliga campaigns with three wins – a first in league history – and stretched their home winning run against Hamburg to 10 matches, outscoring them 56-3 in that time.

Kane’s double also ensured he has scored against every Bundesliga side he has faced, a feat bettered only by Miroslav Klose, who netted against 28 different clubs.

Meanwhile, Diaz continued his hot streak, becoming just the fourth Bayern player to score in each of his first three league outings, joining Ruggiero Rizzitelli, Luca Toni and Mario Mandzukic on that exclusive list.
