Udinese manager, Kosta Runjaic, has revealed that Nigerian goalkeeper,Maduka Okoye, will join the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, December 14.
FIFA recently adjusted the release date for players to December 15, a week before the tournament begins, after initially setting December 8 as the deadline.
Okoye is widely expected to make head coach Eric Chelle’s final squad for the AFCON finals.
The shot-stopper is scheduled to depart for national team duties immediately after Udinese’s Serie A fixture against Napoli on December 14.
“We’re considering this issue. After Napoli, we’ll probably no longer have Rui Modesto, Okoye, Bayo, and Zemura, but we’ve known about it for some time,” Runjaic stated via the club’s official website.
”Kamara won’t be available against Genoa, perhaps he’ll return against Napoli. We’re evaluating who to play on the wings, but it’s something that will become a reality after the Napoli match. For the Genoa match, everyone except Atta and Kamara is available.”
