Serie A: Inter beat Fiorentina 2-1 in comeback win

Inter Milan scored twice in stoppage time to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in their Serie A clash at the San Siro on Sunday.

Alejandro Jiménez Sánchez gave Fiorentina the lead in the 65th minute, putting the visitors in a strong position to claim a valuable result against the reigning Italian champions.

However, Inter mounted a late comeback, with Marcus Thuram equalising in the 91st minute before Piotr Zielinski struck seven minutes later to complete the turnaround and seal all three points for the hosts.

The victory extended Inter’s unbeaten start to the Serie A season, strengthening their position among the early title contenders as they continued their impressive domestic form.

Inter had entered the match following a 1-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, having previously suffered defeats against Real Madrid and Club Brugge in Europe.

The Milan side had also come from behind to defeat Bologna 3-1 in their previous league outing, demonstrating their ability to recover from difficult situations.

For Fiorentina, the defeat added to an increasingly disappointing campaign.

The visitors had struggled for consistency in their opening seven league matches and came into Sunday’s encounter after losing 3-1 to Como.
