Serie A: Pulisic, Hutchinson shine as Milan beat Udinese 2-0

AC Milan beat Udinese 2-0 in Serie A on Sunday, with Christian Pulisic and Omari Hutchinson scoring in either half to extend head coach Ruben Amorim’s unbeaten start in the Italian league to eight matches.

The victory at Bluenergy Stadium provided Milan with a response to their 3-0 Europa League defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday, keeping them within four points of league leaders Inter Milan after eight matches.

Milan took the lead in the sixth minute when Luka Modric quickly restarted play with a free-kick that caught the Udinese defence off guard.

Pulisic controlled the ball before calmly finishing past goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

The visitors continued to threaten, with Davide Bartesaghi firing over after being set up by Pulisic.

Milan also missed other opportunities before the break, as Udinese struggled to contain their attacking pressure.

Milan maintained their dominance after the restart, with Pulisic forcing Okoye into a save before the visitors eventually doubled their advantage in the 65th minute.

Ardon Jashari’s effort was parried by the goalkeeper, allowing Hutchinson to react quickest and score his first goal since joining the club on loan.

Milan nearly added a third shortly afterwards when a deflected Pulisic effort fell to Goncalo Ramos, but Okoye produced an excellent save to turn his shot onto the crossbar.

At the other end, goalkeeper Mike Maignan denied Keinan Davis from close range to preserve Milan’s clean sheet.

The result extended Milan’s winning run in away league meetings with Udinese to four matches.

They also maintained their unbeaten start under Amorim, who will be encouraged by his side’s response after the setback in Europe.
