Salah dropped from Liverpool’s UCL squad after controversial interview

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is facing uncertainty after he was excluded from the squad traveling to Milan for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter.

The 33-year-old winger sparked controversy over the weekend by publicly criticising manager Arne Slot’s decision to leave him on the bench for the past three Premier League matches.

Salah has seen limited action recently, featuring for just 45 minutes across Liverpool’s last three league games.

He was left out entirely in the 2-0 victory over West Ham, played only the second half in the 1-1 draw with Sunderland, and remained unused in the 3-3 draw against Leeds.

Speaking to reporters at Elland Road, Salah expressed his frustration, claiming he had been “thrown under the bus” by Slot and lamented the breakdown in their relationship.

The Egypt international, who is preparing to join the Africa Cup of Nations next week, appeared to leave his future with the club in question.

In response, Liverpool have left Salah behind as the rest of the squad flew to Milan on Monday evening. Although he trained with his teammates on Merseyside earlier in the day, he did not make the travelling party.

The club reportedly remains “open-minded” regarding Salah’s future, with the January transfer window approaching.

Earlier this year in April, Salah signed a new two-year deal worth approximately £350,000 per week, though he hinted at the possibility of leaving after his recent comments.

Reflecting on his situation, Salah said, “Sitting on the bench, I don’t know why, it seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That’s how I feel it. I think it’s very clear that someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me in the summer for a lot of promises and nothing. So far, I’m on the bench three games.

“So I can’t say that they keep the promise. I said that many times before, I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why. It seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”
