Makinde urges Nigerians to collect PVC ahead of 2027 elections

Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, has called on Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde made the call in a video shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, where he displayed his PVC and encouraged citizens to obtain theirs to enable them to participate in the electoral process.

According to the governor, the Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled October 9, 2026, for the commencement of PVC collection.

Makinde said, “INEC has confirmed that Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) collection commences on 9 October 2026. Please get your PVC so that you can participate in the 2027 election.”

He described the PVC as an important tool for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.

“Fellow Nigerians, INEC has set December 12th as the date for people to start collecting their Permanent Voter Card. This is your power. Irrespective of who you want to vote for, let’s go out, collect your PVC, and you will use it wisely,” he said.

The governor urged Nigerians not to allow their political preferences to discourage them from participating in the electoral process, stressing that voters should collect their cards regardless of the candidates they intend to support.

Makinde emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in May 2026 and has since commenced preparations for the 2027 election.

Makinde, who has served as Oyo State governor since 2019 and secured a second term in 2023, is seeking to become Nigeria’s president in 2027.
