The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has commenced a week-long training programme for more than 2,600 security personnel drawn from the state’s 27 Local Government Areas.
The operatives, comprising male and female personnel, assembled at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, on Saturday for drills, screening and orientation.
The Public Relations Officer of the board, Dauda Hadejia, confirmed the development in an interview in Dutse on Sunday.
He said the exercise was designed to improve the personnel’s professionalism, discipline and understanding of procedures guiding their duties.
Hadejia said, “The Board flagged off a comprehensive general training for all our security personnel to enhance their capacity, discipline and service delivery across the state.”
He explained that personnel from all the 27 LGAs, alongside staff from the board’s headquarters, were participating in the exercise.
“We have guards from every single LGA in Jigawa, plus our headquarters staff. They are all gathered here at Fanisau Camp for this important capacity-building exercise,” he said.
According to him, participants underwent screening after arriving at the camp before completing their registration.
“On arrival, our instructors conducted proper screening of all participants. This is to ensure that only qualified and fit personnel take part in the training,” the spokesperson stated.
He added that the registration was conducted according to LGAs to facilitate coordination and proper record-keeping.
“The registration was conducted based on Local Government Areas at the main hall of the orientation camp. This makes it easy for coordination and record-keeping,” Hadejia said.
The participants were also issued identification tags and other training materials for the duration of the programme.
“All participants were presented with registration identification tags and other required training kits. This will help in proper identification throughout the week,” he added.
Hadejia said the training was part of the board’s efforts to strengthen its personnel and improve the quality of services provided to communities across the state.
“This training is part of efforts to equip our guards with the necessary skills, discipline and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively and in line with Islamic and state laws,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the exercise would result in improved discipline and professionalism among the operatives.
“At the end of this week-long training, we expect to see a more disciplined, alert and community-friendly Hisbah security outfit across all 27 LGAs,” he said.
Hadejia explained that the NYSC camp was selected as the training venue because its structured environment would help participants develop teamwork, endurance and discipline.
“The camp environment will help build team spirit, endurance and professionalism among our guards. It mirrors the kind of dedication we expect from them,” he stated.
The spokesperson also appealed to residents to cooperate with the Hisbah Board as it carries out its responsibilities.
“We urge the good people of Jigawa State to continue to cooperate with Hisbah. Together we can build a more peaceful and morally upright society,” Hadejia said.
