The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, announcing an initial deposit of N7.5 million for intending pilgrims.
The board also disclosed that registration will remain open for only 87 days, urging interested residents to complete the process before the deadline set by Saudi authorities.
Speaking during a meeting with zonal officers from the state’s 27 local government areas at the board’s headquarters in Dutse, the Director-General of the board, Ahmed Labbo, said the early commencement of registration was aimed at ensuring better planning for the pilgrimage.i
“We have commenced the collection of an initial deposit of N7.5 million for the 2027 Hajj exercise to enable intending pilgrims to secure their seats early and avoid the usual last-minute rush,” Labbo said.
He explained that the move followed directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and Saudi Arabian authorities, which require participating countries to complete registration well ahead of the pilgrimage.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has fixed September as the deadline for registration of pilgrims worldwide. That leaves us with only 87 days, so we urge all intending pilgrims to act promptly,” he stated.
Labbo directed the board’s zonal officers to intensify awareness campaigns across the 27 local government areas to ensure all allocated Hajj slots are occupied before the registration window closes.
“Be vigilant, ensure all Hajj seats are filled and continue sensitising members of the public on the need to complete their registration before the deadline,” he charged the officers.
According to the director-general, early registration and payment will enable the board to make timely arrangements for accommodation, transportation, feeding and other logistics in Saudi Arabia.
“We expect intending pilgrims to register early, complete their payments and prepare ahead to ensure a smooth and hitch-free 2027 Hajj exercise,” he added.
Labbo noted that the decision was informed by challenges experienced during the 2026 pilgrimage, particularly delays in payments and incomplete documentation by some pilgrims.
He said the board was determined to avoid a repeat of those issues through early planning and strict adherence to the registration timeline.
The director-general also commended Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for his continued support of the board.
“I sincerely appreciate the governor for his unwavering cooperation and support, which has continued to contribute to the successful conduct of Hajj operations in Jigawa State,” Labbo said.
