Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a stark warning on Tuesday, telling the United States and its allies that they could be cut off from vital energy supplies if Washington were to cross what Tehran describes as its “red lines.”
The declaration, carried by Iranian state television, underscores the heightening tensions between Tehran and Washington amid ongoing regional friction.
In a statement broadcast nationally, the Guards, known as the ideological and elite arm of Iran’s military, said that any violation of their red lines would provoke a far-reaching response.
The message was clear: Iran is prepared to escalate beyond conventional boundaries if pushed, signaling a potential expansion of the conflict horizon.
“The Revolutionary Guards once again declare that if the American terrorist army crosses the red lines, our response will go beyond the region,” the statement said.
By referring to the U.S. forces in such terms, Tehran highlighted its continued framing of American presence in the Middle East as hostile and illegitimate.
As part of their threat, the Guards warned that critical energy infrastructure in the region could be targeted, with long-term consequences for global markets.
They said that they would specifically act to “deprive the United States and its allies of oil and gas in the region for years,” signaling a strategy that could disrupt supply routes and affect international energy security.
The statement also suggested that Iran has so far practised restraint in its retaliation calculus, despite mounting provocations.
“America’s regional partners should also know that until today, we have exercised great restraint for the sake of good neighbourliness and have had some reservations in choosing targets for retaliation, but all these reservations have since been removed,” it said, hinting that Tehran’s tolerance has reached its limit and future actions could be more expansive and less discriminating.
