The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the final list of 122 candidates contesting the 2027 National Assembly elections in Ondo State.
The list comprises 31 candidates for the three senatorial districts and 91 candidates contesting seats in the House of Representatives.
The commission also published the names of 18 presidential candidates and their political parties.
The Head of Voter Education and Publicity Department of INEC in Ondo State, Ogunseye Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mutiu Agboke, in Akure on Sunday.
Olayinka said the publication was carried out in line with the commission’s timetable for the 2027 general elections and the provisions of Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026.
He said September 12 was the deadline set by INEC for the publication of the final list of candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to him, the publication represents an important stage in the commission’s preparations for the elections scheduled for January 2027.
He added that INEC remained committed to transparency and adherence to the approved electoral timetable.
Olayinka urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to visit INEC offices across the state to inspect the published list.
He assured stakeholders that the commission would work towards ensuring that the elections are free, fair, transparent, credible and inclusive.
He said, “Nothing shall determine the winner of any election other than the votes lawfully cast by the people and duly counted in accordance with the law.”
The commission said the publication was also intended to give political parties, candidates and other stakeholders an opportunity to verify the final list head of the 2027 elections.
