Aiyedatiwa renames Ondo’s event centre after Ex-gov Mimiko

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, after former governor Olusegun Mimiko.

The facility will now be known as the Dr Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events in recognition of the former governor’s contribution to the state’s infrastructure development.

Aiyedatiwa announced the change on Saturday during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Mimiko in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the decision formally associates the facility with the former governor who initiated its construction.

“The facility would now officially bear the former governor’s name,” the statement said.

Mimiko governed Ondo State from 2009 to 2017, during which the cultural and events centre was constructed to provide a venue for cultural activities and public functions.

The renaming places the former governor’s name on one of the state’s prominent event facilities in Akure, acknowledging his administration’s role in establishing the centre.

The announcement was made public through a statement from the governor’s office on Saturday.
