Nigeria’s women’s basketball national team, D’Tigress, have been drawn into a challenging Group B at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026, where they will battle France, Hungary, and South Korea.
The draw sets up a demanding early phase for the African champions, with France, ranked second in the world, emerging as the standout favourites to dominate the group.
Nigeria, currently ranked eighth globally, will be aiming to test their consistency against elite opposition on the world stage.
South Korea, ranked 15th, and Hungary, placed 19th, complete the group and are expected to bring additional competition and unpredictability to the contest.
Head coach Rena Wakama will lead the team into the tournament after guiding D’Tigress to a record fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title, securing their place at the World Cup.
Elsewhere in the draw, hosts Germany are placed in Group A alongside Japan, Spain, and Mali, while Group C features Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico, and Turkey.
Defending champions United States headline Group D, where they will face China, the Czech Republic, and Italy.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, from September 4 to 13, 2026.
