RB Leipzig were forced to settle for a 2–2 draw against VfL Wolfsburg, a result that kept them in fifth place in the Bundesliga while doing little to ease the visitors’ relegation concerns after a 14th straight league game without a clean sheet.
Leipzig, looking to bounce back from their midweek DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayern Munich, controlled much of the first half but failed to turn their dominance into goals.
Wolfsburg’s only real opportunity before the break came early, when Christian Eriksen tried his luck from distance, but his effort sailed just over.
At the other end, goalkeeper Kamil Grabara was outstanding. He made a string of saves, first denying Yan Diomande from a tight angle, then producing excellent stops to keep out Conrad Harder’s overhead kick and Brajan Gruda’s close-range attempt in a superb opening-half display.
Grabara continued his heroics after the interval, thwarting Diomande again following a sharp first touch and quick turn. But that save only delayed Leipzig’s breakthrough, as Wolfsburg struck first on the counterattack.
Adam Daghim drove into the box and squared for Mohamed Amoura, who rifled a powerful finish into the far top corner.
Leipzig had not recovered a point from a losing position in the league all season, but they finally showed resilience.
Grabara’s misplaced pass gifted possession to Gruda, who quickly teed up Diomande to fire into the bottom corner and level the match.
The hosts’ joy was short-lived. Wolfsburg responded with another swift break, as Jeanuel Belocian surged down the left and picked out Mattias Svanberg, who calmly slotted past Maarten Vandevoort to restore the visitors’ lead.
Wolfsburg appeared on course for a valuable win, but their defence switched off late on. With just minutes remaining, Gruda found space at the edge of the area and curled a precise left-footed effort into the far corner to rescue a point for Leipzig.
The draw, the only stalemate of the Bundesliga weekend, left both managers frustrated.
Wolfsburg, who led for much of the second half, have now failed to beat any of the current top-seven teams this season, while Leipzig at least preserved their long unbeaten run in Sunday league fixtures.
