Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally submitted his presidential nomination forms at the secretariat of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja, signalling his intention to contest in the 2027 general election.
Amaechi announced the development in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, describing the move as a step towards rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.
“Today, I submitted my presidential nomination forms at the ADC Secretariat, officially throwing my hat in the ring to salvage our country, Nigeria,” he stated.
The former minister said his ambition is anchored on restoring hope, unity and national progress, stressing that his administration would focus on improving the lives of Nigerians if elected.
According to him, “The mission is clear; we will fight to restore dignity to Nigerians, make our country great and respected in the comity of nations, and bring unity, peace, prosperity and progress to our people.”
Amaechi also called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, ending his message with the words, “Arise and Shine!”
The submission of the nomination forms marks a major milestone in the former governor’s preparations for the 2027 presidential contest, as political activities continue to intensify across various parties ahead of the election.
Amaechi previously served as governor of Rivers State and later as Minister of Transportation, positioning him among notable political figures expected to shape conversations ahead of the next general election.
