Nigerian gospel singer and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has recorded more than one billion views on YouTube, marking a major milestone in his digital ministry.
Statistics on his official YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, show that it has accumulated over 1.014 billion views and attracted approximately 5.24 million subscribers since its creation in 2011.
The achievement coincides with the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, an online prayer and worship programme founded by the cleric in 2017.
The initiative, which features midnight sessions of praise, worship and prayers, has attracted participants from different countries, extending Bassey’s reach beyond Nigeria.
Bassey is widely known for gospel songs such as Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God, which have contributed to his popularity among Christian music audiences.
The Hallelujah Challenge has also grown from an online prayer initiative into an international worship movement, with thousands participating in its live sessions and millions accessing recorded editions.
The milestone has sparked reactions among his followers, with some suggesting that the growing online audience presents opportunities for increased digital revenue.
However, Bassey has consistently maintained that the primary purpose of the Hallelujah Challenge is spiritual devotion and worship rather than financial gain.
