Nathaniel Bassey distances self from Kaduna church programme over illegal image use

Nigerian gospel music minister, pastor, and singer, Nathaniel Bassey, has publicly distanced himself from a religious event being advertised on billboards across Kaduna State, denying any knowledge or participation in the programme.

The acclaimed trumpeter expressed shock after discovering that his image was used to promote the event alongside other ministers of God without his consent.

In a video shared on social media, Bassey clarified that he had no prior communication with the organisers and was completely unaware of the programme.

He described the use of his image as surprising, unacceptable, and not reflective of the right values.

“I just got information that a ministry has my picture on billboards all over Kaduna, claiming I’ll be present at their event,” Bassey said. “I know absolutely nothing about it, and I’m honestly shocked.”

The gospel minister criticised the manner in which the event was promoted, calling it misleading and inappropriate.

“Using someone’s image without permission, especially in the name of faith, is wrong,” he stated. “It’s interesting that people think this is how to serve God, but this is not the right way. We can’t handle things through underhanded methods. This is not right at all.”

Bassey made it clear that he would not attend the event, stressing that there was no prior agreement with the organisers.

He also shared plans to attach the controversial flyers to his post to clarify the situation to the public and prevent further misinformation.

“I won’t be there. I know nothing about the event,” he said firmly, urging people to disregard the billboards.

Nathaniel Bassey is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading gospel ministers, known for his inspirational worship songs and musical talents, particularly as a trumpeter.

Over the years, he has gained both national and international recognition, performing at major events and leading worship sessions that draw thousands of followers.
