The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered 13 mobile phones and N102,500 allegedly linked to a robbery in Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Dutse on Tuesday.
Adam said the arrests followed investigations into separate armed robbery and burglary incidents reported in Jahun on September 24, 2026.
According to him, the suspects invaded two residences in the area at about 2am, targeting a 35-year-old man at Kofar Daru Quarters.
The robbers allegedly stole N20.18m in cash, iTel keypad phones valued at N13.13m, recharge cards worth N1m, Android phones and other valuables.
In a separate attack, the gang reportedly raided the residence of a 37-year-old man at Shagari Quarters, carting away two blankets, rice, a woman’s wrapper and N45,000.
“The Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation of armed robbery and burglary incidents reported in Jahun Division with the arrest of six suspects and recovery of robbed items,” Adam said.
He explained that detectives from the Jahun Division visited the crime scenes and immediately commenced investigations, leading to the initial arrest of five suspects.
They were identified as Sale Ibrahim, 25; Abubakar Abdullahi, 28; Babangida Ya’u, 35; Babannan Hassan, 27; and Isah Isibu, 35.
Adam added that another suspect, Isa Yusuf, 35, was arrested on October 15 during a visibility patrol at Maigatari Market by operatives of the Maigatari Division working with the Border Patrol Team.
Yusuf, a resident of Hantsu village in Miga Local Government Area, was reportedly found with 13 new iTel phones, 13 chargers, 13 batteries and N102,500 in cash.
The police spokesman said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse to being a member of the syndicate responsible for the Jahun robbery.
He added that investigations established that the recovered items were connected to the robbery incidents.
“The Command has intensified manhunt for the remaining fleeing suspects, while those arrested have been charged to court,” Adam stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, commended the officers involved in the operation and urged them to sustain efforts to combat criminal activities through improved collaboration.
The command also called on residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist in apprehending fleeing suspects and recovering stolen property.
