The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and released former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, on bail following an hour of questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Okorocha was reportedly arrested on Monday night at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest and subsequent release to Channels Television, stating that the former governor had been directed to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further questioning.
The development comes amid an ongoing police investigation into the allegations against him.
Reports indicate that the arrest followed Okorocha’s failure to honour earlier police invitations.
He was initially invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was reportedly moved to September 8 following a request from his lawyers.
He allegedly failed to appear on the rescheduled date.
