Feyenoord produced a strong second-half performance to defeat NEC Nijmegen 3-1, with Gjivai Zechiël playing a decisive role in the Eredivisie clash on Saturday.
After a goalless opening period, Zechiël broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute with a composed finish from inside the box, sending his effort into the bottom-right corner.
The midfielder continued to influence the game and turned provider nine minutes later, slipping a pass through to Luciano Valente, who restored Feyenoord’s advantage.
Zechiël completed his outstanding display in the 64th minute when his cut-back found Jerayno Schaken, who finished to put the visitors firmly in control.
The 22-year-old ended the match with one goal and two assists, while also registering four key passes as Feyenoord took control of the second half.
The victory lifted Feyenoord from fourth to second in the Eredivisie standings, while NEC will look to bounce back when they face Excelsior in their next league fixture.
Feyenoord, meanwhile, turn their attention to the Champions League, with a trip to Barcelona next on their schedule.
