Super Falcons’ head coach, Justine Madugu, and Flamingos’ handler, Bankole Olowookere, have both been shortlisted for the 2025 CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award.
Madugu earned his nomination after leading the Super Falcons to glory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria claimed a record-extending 10th continental title.
The team staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the hosts 3-2 in a thrilling final.
It will be recalled that Madugu was also among the nominees for the Women’s Coach of the Year category at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
Flamingos’ head coach, Bankole Olowookere, is likewise vying for the CAF honour.
He will be hoping to inspire his side to a historic maiden title when the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup kicks off in Morocco later this month.
Both the Super Falcons and Flamingos are contenders for the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
Meanwhile, the Flamingos are set to open their World Cup campaign against Canada on Sunday, with team captain Shakirat Moshood also nominated for the Women’s Young Player of the Year accolade.
