Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
The Slovenian striker has penned a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with the Premier League giants paying an initial £66.26 million (€76.5 million) plus a further £7.36 million (€8.5 million) in performance-related bonuses.
United fended off strong competition from Newcastle United to secure the 21-year-old, who netted 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig following his move from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023.
“A Perfect Place to Fulfil My Ambitions”
Speaking to the club’s website, Sesko explained what drew him to Manchester, “The history of Manchester United is obviously very special, but what really excites me is the future. When we spoke about the project, it was clear everything is in place for this team to grow and fight for the biggest trophies again. From the moment I arrived, I felt the positive energy and family atmosphere here. This is the perfect environment to reach my full potential.”
High Expectations from United’s Leadership
Director of Football Jason Wilcox described Sesko as “one of the most exceptional young talents in world football,” praising his combination of blistering pace and physical strength.
“We have monitored Benjamin for a long time. All our analysis confirmed he has the qualities and mentality to thrive at Manchester United. Under Ruben Amorim’s guidance and with the support of our performance team, he’s in the ideal place to develop into a world-class player,” Wilcox added.
Sesko becomes one of United’s marquee signings of the summer as the club continues building a squad aimed at competing for major honours.
