Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has dismissed a suggestion by a group called Diri Angels that he should be the running mate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor’s chief press secretary, Daniel Alabrah, described the suggestion as a “Greek gift from political jobbers” aimed at causing disaffection, according to Leadership.
Diri affirmed his commitment to delivering democracy dividends to the people of Bayelsa State, relying on God’s guidance rather than political advocacy inconsistent with his principles.
He urged the people to ignore the antics of political buccaneers seeking to distract him, reaffirming his focus on fulfilling the mandate given to him in 2019 and reaffirmed in 2023.
“I am not swayed by such calls. In my political journey, I have always relied on God and not on political jobbers with devious intentions,” he said.
