The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has encouraged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to go beyond merely highlighting leadership shortcomings and instead focus on cultivating the skills to offer solutions.
In a devotional message titled “From Critic to Activist” from the Open Heavens Daily Devotional, Pastor Adeboye acknowledged the place of criticism but emphasized that lasting impact and recognition are achieved through actionable change.
“Don’t just criticise things or people; become a part of the solution you desire to see,” he urged. “It is often said that statues are never built in honour of critics. Carrying placards and protesting may attract attention, but beyond that, you must grow to where you can recommend and even provide the solutions you demand.”
Drawing from scripture, Adeboye highlighted Elijah as an example—who initially rebuked King Ahab but later became the instrument through which God provided for a widow, demonstrating the power of offering real solutions.
He also referenced Moses, cautioning that an overzealous pursuit of destiny, as Moses experienced, can delay one’s purpose: his premature actions led to a 40-year detour in the wilderness.
He stressed the importance of wisdom, strategy, and knowledge in driving meaningful change, “Beloved, be wise. God has a great destiny for you, but overzealousness can hinder its fulfilment. Rather than being a mere noisemaker, increase your capacity so you can become a force to be reckoned with. Your zeal must be matched with the right knowledge and actions.”
Pastor Adeboye, who has served in ministry for over 50 years, concluded by advising young people to direct their energy constructively, merging divine insight with practical steps to bring about enduring transformation.
