Advisers misleading Tinubu on security situations in Nigeria — Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has voiced concern that President Bola Tinubu may be receiving misleading advice from his aides, particularly regarding a recent statement on the nation’s security situation.

Speaking during the November edition of the church’s Holy Ghost Service, themed “The Eve of Glory,” Adeboye referenced a presidential speech on national security, delivered by Tinubu, whom he described as his “in-law.”

“I almost spoke out last month when I heard the speech from my in-law, the President. You can go and listen to it again, particularly the section that addressed security. When I heard him say that all is well now and that displaced people have returned to their villages, I almost said that the person who wrote that speech for my President, my in-law, does not like him,” Adeboye said.

He continued, “And if you were to ask, ‘What do you mean? Somebody wrote it, but it was the President who read it,’ my response would be, didn’t he review it before delivering it? Well, if you put it that way, then my conclusion is that there are several people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth. I think the following day, we read in the newspaper about a traditional ruler who was killed, whether in Kwara or Kogi.”

Adeboye, however, stressed that his intention was not to assign blame. “But this is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem; it started before him. And in any case, I am an applied mathematician; I am interested in simply getting the problem solved.”

The cleric proposed that the government explore diplomatic measures to seek international assistance.

“Let the government use diplomatic methods to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace. Call our service chiefs, fortunately, they are new and tell them to perform within three months or resign,” he urged.

“We have been praying for Nigeria; we can’t pray all these prayers without something happening,” he added.

Drawing on scientific reasoning to emphasize hope for the country, Adeboye stated, “There is a law called Newton’s Law of Motion, which states that a body will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled by an external force to do otherwise. This means that whatever method God wants to use, at the end of it all, there will be peace in Nigeria again.”

Explaining why he often refrains from public commentary on national issues, Adeboye said his caution stems from operating under the Christian Association of Nigeria.

He noted, “I have discovered in the Bible that a man not under authority cannot cast out a demon,” stressing the importance of maintaining order and respect within the church hierarchy.
