American R&B singer, Chris Brown, on Friday admitted guilt to a public order offence linked to an alleged nightclub altercation in London in 2023.
“Guilty,” replied Brown, 37, dressed in a beige suit and dark brown tie, after the charge of affray was read to him while he stood in the dock at Southwark Crown Court in London.
Following his guilty plea, Brown will no longer face trial on other charges arising from the same incident, including attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, specifically a bottle.
Prosecutors said those charges, which Brown had previously denied during earlier court appearances, will be formally withdrawn at a later date.
The singer is scheduled to be sentenced on October 26.
Brown, who previously had a troubled relationship with singer Rihanna, had been granted bail of £5 million ($6.7 million). He spent nearly a week in custody in May 2025 before securing his release.
Police arrested him at a five-star hotel in Manchester shortly after he reportedly arrived in the UK aboard a private jet.
Despite the charges, Judge Tony Baumgartner last year allowed Brown to proceed with his planned concert tour, which began in Amsterdam in June.
The case stems from an alleged incident at Tape, an exclusive private members’ club in Hanover Square, London, on February 19, 2023, during Brown’s UK tour.
According to the prosecution, the alleged victim was struck repeatedly with a bottle before being chased, punched and kicked.
Brown appeared in court alongside his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, 40, also a US citizen.
Akinlolu, who had faced the same assault-related charges as Brown, also pleaded guilty to affray. Both men are due to be sentenced on October 26.
Brown was released on bail pending the sentencing hearing.
