A Los Angeles judge has ruled that Maria Avila, the former housekeeper of American singer Chris Brown, can recover her $13 million court-awarded compensation from income generated by his ongoing nationwide tour with Usher.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the judge approved Avila’s request to have part of Brown’s tour earnings and royalty income assigned to her as a means of settling the judgment.
Brown had opposed the move, but the court rejected his objection and allowed Avila to pursue the earnings.
It is not yet known whether Brown will ask the court to reconsider the decision or challenge the ruling through an appeal.
The latest development stems from a jury verdict earlier this year that held Brown responsible for a dog attack involving Avila at his Los Angeles residence in 2020.
Avila had taken legal action against the singer over the incident and was subsequently awarded the multi-million-dollar judgment.
Brown has denied wrongdoing in connection with the case.
