US, Iran fail to reach agreement after marathon talks

A series of marathon talks between the United States and Iran concluded without reaching an agreement, according to remarks made by Vice President JD Vance.

The discussions, which were described as extensive and prolonged, ultimately failed to produce a deal to permanently resolve the ongoing dispute.

Speaking at a press appearance in Islamabad, Vance noted that the negotiations had stretched over many hours and involved what he described as meaningful engagement between both sides.

He emphasized the length and intensity of the discussions, suggesting that both delegations remained engaged throughout the process.

“We have been at it now for 21 hours, and we’ve had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. That’s the good news,” Vance said at a press appearance in Islamabad.

However, he confirmed that the talks did not yield the desired outcome, stressing that no agreement was reached despite the extended negotiations.

He also framed the outcome as more negative for Iran than for the United States.

“The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement,” he said. “And I think that’s bad news for Iran much more than it’s bad news for the United States of America. So we go back to the United States having not come to an agreement.”

Following the breakdown in talks, Vance indicated that the United States would return home without a deal, marking an inconclusive end to the latest round of discussions between both countries.
