United Nigeria Airlines has apologised to Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola following the disruption of her flight from Ekiti to Lagos, which left her stranded and affected her professional commitments.
The actress had earlier taken to social media to express frustration over the airline’s delayed flight, explaining that she was scheduled to return to Lagos for a film shoot but suffered financial and professional losses due to the disruption.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, the airline acknowledged the inconvenience caused to Ogunmola and other affected passengers, attributing the disruption to unscheduled aircraft maintenance.
“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges the concerns raised by Ms. Bolaji Ogunmola in a now viral video regarding the recent disruption to her travel plans. We offer our sincerest apologies to her and all affected passengers,” the statement said.
According to the airline, flight UN0623, scheduled for January 7, 2026, was disrupted due to an unexpected maintenance issue, adding that affected passengers were duly informed through email and text messages.
“We fully recognise the impact that flight delays and cancellations have on our passengers, particularly when they interfere with significant personal and professional commitments. We deeply regret that Ms. Ogunmola was affected by these circumstances,” the airline stated.
UNA further explained that, in a bid to prioritise passengers’ welfare, it reintroduced the Ekiti–Lagos flight on January 8, 2026, even though the route was not originally scheduled for operation on that day.
“In prioritising our passengers, the flight was specially reintroduced into our operations on January 8, 2026, despite the Ekiti–Lagos route not being part of our scheduled services for the day,” the statement added.
The airline also assured the public that it complied fully with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Consumer Protection Regulations during the disruption.
“In line with our commitment to passenger welfare, United Nigeria Airlines ensured full compliance with all applicable NCAA Consumer Protection Regulations, including passenger care obligations during flight disruptions, as provided under Part 19 of the regulations,” Uloka said.
Reiterating its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, the airline said it values feedback from passengers and is working to improve service delivery.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the highest standards of safety, operational excellence and exceptional customer service, and we are dedicated to continually improving our services to meet and exceed passengers’ expectations,” the statement concluded.
