Juventus endured another night of frustration in the Champions League as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting CP at the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday.
Still chasing their first win of the group stage, the Bianconeri found themselves under pressure early on when Maxi Araujo fired a precise strike past Michele Di Gregorio just 12 minutes into the contest.
Luciano Spalletti’s men gradually found their rhythm, with Dusan Vlahovic twice coming close, first forcing Rui Silva into a fine save with a powerful header, then curling a shot narrowly toward the far post.
Their persistence paid off shortly after the half-hour mark when Khephren Thuram surged through midfield and teed up Vlahovic, who coolly tucked the ball beyond Silva to level the score.
The second half produced few clear chances, though Jonathan David nearly snatched a dramatic winner deep into stoppage time, only for Silva to make another sharp save from his close-range header.
The draw leaves Juventus sitting 23rd in the Champions League standings with three points, just above the qualification threshold, while Sporting remain 10th on seven points.
It marks the third time in Juve’s history they have failed to win any of their first four games in a Champions League campaign, repeating unwanted records from 1998–99 and 2013–14.
They have also conceded first in five straight matches in the competition, equalling their longest-ever run.
Despite the disappointing result, Vlahovic’s performance stood out: the Serbian forward became the first Juventus player on record to register six or more shots on target in a single Champions League fixture.
For Sporting, the wait to claim a first-ever away victory over an Italian side in major European competition continues, now stretching to 17 matches.
