Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, with Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres scoring to help the Premier League side claim all three points in the Czech Republic.
Madueke opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing past Slavia goalkeeper Nazar Domchak after being set up by Gyokeres, as Mikel Arteta’s side made a bright start to the encounter.
The Gunners continued to dominate proceedings and extended their lead in the 38th minute.
Mikel Merino provided the assist for Gyokeres, who calmly converted to put Arsenal two goals ahead before the break.
Slavia Prague returned with greater intensity in the second half and forced goalkeeper David Raya into action as they sought to reduce the deficit.
Arsenal, however, remained largely composed, with Arteta making substitutions to manage his players ahead of upcoming fixtures while keeping the hosts at bay.
Slavia eventually found a breakthrough late in the game through Wiktor Nowak, who scored to revive hopes of a comeback.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Arsenal held firm to preserve their advantage and secure a 2-1 win.
The victory takes Arsenal to 10 points from their opening four matches in the Champions League.
