Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators and recovered weapons and ammunition during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.
The military also destroyed several terrorist enclaves and recovered an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items during clearance operations in Katsina State.
The operations were carried out on August 27 and 28, 2026, according to the Military Information Officer, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
Danja said troops of Sector 1 initially arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State following credible intelligence.
He said the suspect was found carrying two locally fabricated firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
According to him, the suspect confessed during preliminary investigation that he had been assigned to deliver the weapons and ammunition to another person.
He said, “Acting on the information from the suspect, troops swiftly conducted a follow-up operation and apprehended two additional suspects connected with the movement of the weapons.”
Danja added that the three suspects and the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items had been handed over for further investigation.
In Katsina State, he said troops of Sector 2, working with other security agencies, carried out a clearance operation around Maharba and Karaduwa communities in Matazu Local Government Area on August 28.
The operation resulted in the destruction of terrorist camps and structures allegedly used to facilitate criminal activities.
Danja said troops also targeted an enclave associated with a terrorist leader identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has allegedly terrorised residents of Matazu and Musawa local government areas.
He said Filani escaped shortly before troops reached the enclave.
“Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items,” Danja said.
He added that troops subsequently conducted fighting patrols across the area to consolidate the operation and prevent the terrorists from regaining access to the destroyed locations.
The military spokesman said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts by Operation Fansan Yamma to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their supply lines and prevent them from using camps and enclaves to coordinate attacks.
He said the Joint Task Force would continue to employ intelligence-led and coordinated operations to reduce the capacity of terrorist groups and restore peace and security in affected communities.
