Tinubu congratulates Adeleke on Osun re-election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election as a positive indication of the strength of democracy in Nigeria.

Tinubu said he had spoken with Adeleke by telephone to congratulate him on his victory and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the state for another four years.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged Adeleke to use his second term to unite the people of Osun and pursue development irrespective of their political affiliations.

The President said, “Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election.”

Tinubu also praised the other candidates who contested the election, saying their participation contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s democratic culture.

He said, “I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture.”

The President maintained that the election result reflected the choice of Osun voters and demonstrated that democracy remained resilient in the country.

He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for what he described as the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election.
