Super Eagles deserved more against Egypt – Onuachu

Paul Onuachu believes the Super Eagles merited a better outcome despite falling 2–1 to Egypt in Tuesday night’s international friendly.

Nigeria were edged out by the Pharaohs at the Cairo International Stadium in a build-up game ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with Eric Chelle’s side showing promise for long spells.

Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed were on target for the hosts, while Chidozie Awaziem pulled one back for Nigeria with a well-taken header shortly before halftime.

Reflecting on the encounter, Onuachu expressed satisfaction with his display and the team’s overall showing, even though the result did not go their way.

“It feels good to play against Egypt, especially knowing that I scored my first goal for the Super Eagles against them years ago,” Onuachu told the Super Eagles media.

“I felt confident and comfortable during the game and thought I played well, but unfortunately, we lost. Still, as a team, we had a good performance.”
