Sokoto lawmaker Dasuki dumps PDP for ADC

Member representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency of Sokoto State in the House of Representatives, Abdussamad Dasuki, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Dasuki conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 15, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Dogon Daji/Salah Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, thereby bringing his long association with the party to an end.

In the letter, the lawmaker blamed his exit on the prolonged leadership crisis within the party, noting that the situation has greatly undermined its ability to operate effectively as a major opposition platform.

He stated that the ongoing internal disputes have made it difficult for the party to present the credible and well-structured opposition required to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic system.

Dasuki explained that his decision followed wide consultations with political allies, constituents, and other stakeholders who share his concerns about the state of the party and the country.

After leaving the PDP, the lawmaker announced that he has joined the African Democratic Congress, saying the move would allow him to work with other patriots who are determined to address the country’s current socio-economic and political challenges.

He also expressed gratitude to PDP members who supported him during his time in the party and reiterated his resolve to continue serving the people of Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency, Sokoto State, and Nigeria with dedication, integrity, and courage.

Dasuki further urged his supporters and constituents to remain committed as he embarks on what he described as a new political journey aimed at contributing to efforts to rescue the nation from the precipice and build a more prosperous and democratic Nigeria.
