Police arrest two armed robbery suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers in separate operations carried out in Yola North Local Government Area, as part of efforts to combat criminal activities in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that operatives attached to the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters carried out the operations.

According to Nguroje, one of the suspects, 22-year-old Idris Auwal, was arrested on June 3 in connection with a burglary incident at Nassarawo Borehole in Yola North.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect conspired with three other accomplices, who are currently at large, to break into a shop belonging to Abdullahi Sunusi,” Nguroje said.

“Following diligent investigation, Idris Auwal was tracked down and arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects who are still on the run,” he added.

In a separate operation conducted on June 5, police operatives arrested another suspect believed to be a member of a notorious Shilla gang known for attacking and robbing residents.

Nguroje stated that the suspect allegedly attacked one Abubakar Abdullahi along the Doubeli Bypass and robbed him of an Itel mobile phone and ₦19,000 at cutlass-point.
“The suspect reportedly inflicted injuries on the victim’s head during the attack,” he said.
