Oyo govt threatens legal action against exam malpractice offenders

The Oyo State Government has warned that individuals, teachers and school administrators found culpable of examination malpractice will face disciplinary and legal action.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, gave the warning during a meeting with Local Inspectors of Education, principals and a radio presenter at the ministry’s conference room.

The meeting was convened following allegations of examination leakage and malpractice during the 2026 Common Entrance Placement Examination conducted on Thursday, August 6, for admission into Junior Secondary School One.

Olayiwola said the government had put measures in place to safeguard the integrity of the Joint Promotion and Common Entrance examinations, stressing that no individual or institution would be allowed to undermine the process.

He said, “We will leave no stone unturned in identifying and bringing to book anyone found culpable of examination malpractice in any form.”

The commissioner also disclosed that principals had signed letters of indemnity, which would make school administrators liable to sanctions if found to have aided, abetted or participated in examination malpractice.

He added, “Anyone found aiding, abetting or engaging in examination malpractice will face the appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences, irrespective of their position or status.”

While assuring the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated, Olayiwola urged broadcast organisations to verify claims before reporting them as established facts.

The commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring transparency, credibility and fairness in the conduct of examinations across Oyo State.
