The Osun State Government has raised alarm over an alleged assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke, son of Governor Ademola Adeleke, following a reported vehicle chase in Osogbo.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Oke-Fia area, close to the Government House.
Alimi described the घटना as a coordinated attack allegedly carried out by hoodlums, who were reportedly led by an individual identified as Asiri Eniba.
According to him, “The government views this incident as a clear assassination attempt and calls on security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible.”
Recounting his experience, Adeleke—popularly known as B-Red—said he was driving near Alekuwodo Market when he noticed suspicious movements.
“I had gone out to get a few things around Alekuwodo Market when I suddenly saw some commercial motorcyclists wearing AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Oke-Fia Bridge,” he said.
He added that the situation escalated quickly into a pursuit.
“As we tried to leave the area, a white Toyota Venza approached, and someone shouted, ‘It is him! It is him!’ That was when the chase began,” he explained.
The singer further alleged that the attackers attempted to block his vehicle while being joined by multiple motorcycles.
“The vehicle kept trailing us and tried to obstruct our movement, while the motorcycles followed closely. We managed to escape by heading straight to the Government House gate at Oke-Fia,” he said.
Adeleke claimed that one of the occupants of the pursuing vehicle was the alleged ringleader.
“We identified one of them as Asiri Eniba,” he stated.
The state government confirmed that the matter has been reported to security agencies and urged immediate action.
Alimi emphasized, “There must be no delay in arresting and prosecuting the suspects to prevent a breakdown of law and order.”
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to announce any arrests in connection with the incident.
