Kwankwaso never discussed joining APC, NNPP insists

The New Nigeria Peoples Party has rejected claims that its National Leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, explored a move to the All Progressives Congress.

The clarification follows reports suggesting that Kwankwaso overestimated his influence during alleged talks with President Bola Tinubu regarding a possible defection.

According to The PUNCH, NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, described the claims as entirely fabricated.

According to him, “It is a blatant lie that Kwankwaso made demands or entered into negotiations with the APC or Tinubu for his defection. That never happened.”

Johnson noted that the last time Kwankwaso met President Tinubu was in 2024, adding that the subject of joining the APC never came up.

“Those spreading these lies are doing so deliberately to discredit him. They do not want him to work with other opposition forces,” he said.

He insisted that Kwankwaso remains committed to the NNPP and is focused on politics that serve the public interest.

“Kwankwaso is a man of integrity and plays his politics with the general public at heart,” Johnson added.
